SYNOPSIS – what happens in your video?
At the start of our video we will use the beginning of the original but we will rotoscope it to make it look scratchier, this will then fade into an establishing shot of the area. After this our actor will walk into view from the side, past the rock the camera is behind, and then the camera will pan around so it is behind him and remains stationary. He continues to walk away from the camera and we go into an extreme long shot. Once the chorus of the song is reached then we will use more pieces from the original, the band performance, that have been rotoscoped. These will be interspersed with slow motion tracking shots of our actor running; this will be much the same for each time the chorus comes up although different footage will be used. After this will use a high angle shot of our actor walking past the camera. A long shot of our actor walking towards, and past, the camera will be used after this; the camera will be placed at a slight angle so he won’t be walking directly towards the camera. Our actor will then take off the guitar he has been carrying on his back and place it on the ground before running forward towards the camera, which will be shooting up from a low angle shot where we will then switch to a long shot of him running up a hill and coming to stand, side-on, by the camera which will now be a close up of his head, from this position there will be a pan around him and come to a stop on his face which will then zoom into an extreme close up of his eyes. After this will come another fade into original footage and the band that has been rotoscoped with shots of our actor running cut into it and after there will be another fade to a close up of the actors feet, walking, from the feet the camera slowly rises to come up to rest on his face which will then, after a brief pause, pan around so it is facing the back of his head and, finally, from here the camera will slowly zoom out to an extreme long shot until another person, a female dressed in light clothing as opposed to the male who is dressed in dark colours appears at the side of the frame.

JUSTIFICATION OF MUSIC TRACK – why have you chosen this track?
We chose this music track because, apart from us both liking the song, we are both able to relate to it and whilst listening to this song we got more ideas than from any others we thought of using due to the fact that our strengths seem to lie within creating much more serious pieces.

JUSTIFICATION OF CREATIVE IDEA – how and why are you responding to that track in a particular way? (Lyrically, timbre of the music, image of the act, narrative, representation, cultural and sociological issues, etc)
We are responding to the track lyrically as we will only be using one actor, until the very end, in a deserted area with nothing around him but foliage and rocks as a line in the song state’s “I walk alone...”. Also to go with the beat of the song, which is fairly slow we will slow down the footage when we edit our piece and do what we can to make our actors footsteps go, roughly, in time with the beat. We will be introducing a second character at the end as another line in the song says “I wish someone out there will find me...”

THEORY INFORMING PRACTICE – how has your research influenced your final idea?
We have looked into linear narrative and discovered the difference between it and non-linear narrative and tried to use what we discovered to tell a story in chronological order; beginning, middle and end. We also did research into the band and then the song itself which we interoperated differently to how it was originally supposed to be. We interoperated it to be about loneliness whereas it was actually supposed to be the “subsequent hangover” to the song, Holiday, which is the “party”. Although this part of our research hasn’t really influenced our final idea but gave us an insight into what the original video showed. I suppose if we were to make a music video to the song Holiday we would make it much happier in contrast to what we did with Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

I'm really sorry that there isnt a storyboard - I was in charge of making it and I wanted to do a photographic one using photoshop etc: but my laptop has encountered some sort of issue, while I was trying to do this, so i'm sorry that i'm unable to present one. If my laptop comes back to life soon, then i will try to finish it and upload it into this section.
